Emergency Room

Ocular emergency visits are one of the most important types of eye exams that we provide.  It is not well known that optometrists administer emergency services.  However, if anyone experiences any symptoms which are alarming, there is nobody better to come to than an optometrist.  By asking specific questions, the optometrist will decide how urgently the problem should be addressed and provide treatment.

Complete Eye Exams

Comprehensive eye exams are an important part of primary vision care.  Without a thourough examination by your optometrist, the subtle signs of various ocular diseases can be overlooked and can result in life changing vision loss and deterioration of ocular health.

Visual Field Tests

Visual field analysis is utilized to test both central and  peripheral vision.  The visual field machine is an extremely beneficial tool to have in the optometric clinic.  The testing is done on site at Island Eyecare by one of our trained professionals and then reviewed by the optometrist with the patient.  It is one of the most highly diagnostic devices available of its kind.

Contact Lens Correction

Contact lenses are an excellent method of vision correction.  Island Eyecare believes in thouroughly training our patients on how to correctly use and care for their contacts allowing them to both maintain healthy eyes and have exceptional vision.

Surgical Management

Island Eyecare provides patients with both preoperative and postoperative eye care for the entire scope of ocular surgeries. These include, but are not limited to, cataract surgery, LASIK/ PRK correction, retinal surgery, and glaucoma surgery.  By having the optometrist co-manage these types of surgeries with the ophthalmologist, it is convenient for the patient and saves uneccessary wait times.

Pharmaceutical Therapy

Not all optometrists are licensed to write prescriptions for their patients.  At Island Eyecare, our optometrist can provide excellent pharmaceutical care for those eye conditions which require medical intervention.  From antibiotics to steroids, our scope of practice is quite wide and allows th optometrist to treat and manage the majority of ocular infections, inflammations, and allergies.
